More angst! |
So the Hubby and I are fighting. I hate it. I hate it with a passion. We've been fighting more and more lately. He feels that I am not listening to him. The problem is I can remember certain conversations quite clearly and that is not what he said. He think I have selective hearing. Then from there we start to argue about topic not even related to what we first started arguing about. Well, folks it looks like now is not the right time to rent a house. That's fine by me, just tell me. On Tuesday, hubby told me that he'd talked to the landlord and the landlord was willing to come down for us. Hubby told me to do some research on the cost of the utilities and we would sit down and work out what the number would be. (I remember this clearly, we were sitting on the couch.) He insists that what he said was that the landlord was willing to come Down to $1600 and would put an ad in the paper. If we decided we wanted the house to let him know before November. WTF??? How could I mishear that! So we argued and went to bed mad (Which I hate!!!!!!!) Then this morning he got out of the car when I dropped him off at work and didn't even give me a kiss goodbye. The day is shot. I was supposed to have a great day and a fun night but now I'll be whiny. GRRRRRRRR!

AHHHH... Ramen! |
My topic today is Ramen noodles. A staple of any twenty-something's diet, it is highly versatile. There's also a freaking museum about it!
LOOK! Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum
There's also multiple websites devoted to recipes including Ramen noodles. Here and Here.
Good stuff on a cold rainy day! I am now off to have some and a cup of hot cocoa. Anyone wanna join me?

Yo, Vinny! |
So apparently the Jets are falling back into old habits. They are still giving Brooks Bollinger a chance this weekend (glad to see Herm thinking to the Future), but Vinny Testaverde is coming back. Hopefully to save the day. More likely to just make the games entertaining enough that people will still come to the game and watch on TV.
So here's to a season, Yo, Vinny!
In other News:
The landlord for the house we were looking at is possibly bringing the rent down for us. He really likes us and wants to rent to us, so he's working with us to make it happen. It looks ike we may only have to increase our current payment of $900 to about $1400 or so. We shall see.
Good Vibes, people, Good Vibes! ;) |

OH NO! |
With the rest of my life in shambles but holding, football was the one thing I had to look forward to. Now, NUTHIN. Chad Pennington, who is the starting QB for the NY Jets, is out AGAIN for the season. I hate Chad Pennington. I think he is a wuss and a dork and can't play football even when he's not injured. ROAR! ;P Jay Fiedler, who is the second string Qb is not much better. He also is hurt. So it's Brooks Bollinger who is stepping up. He's a rookie, and I don't know much about him, so we'll see. Next week we play Baltimore and then Tampa Bay the next week so let's see how this plays out. Here is the whole story about Pennington.

Now I didn't actually write this but it says what I've been thinking very clearly. (It came off a bulletin on MySpace) The black part is the only thing I changed, to show some classic music. Everyone probably knows a few of these people. What I want to know is why they are so sad.
"I wonder when people will realize that the "scene" has become homogeneous. It's full of 14 year old girls with uneven bangs, black and white striped shirts, and tattered low-top black Chuck Taylors, who swoon over homosexual kissing and pathetic whiny lyrics and overuse the symbols.
Their favorite quote is, invariably, "The truth is you could slit my throat and with my one last gasping breath I'd apologize for bleeding on your shirt" because it like, so totally describes their relationship with that one HAWT sophomore who totally ripped their hearts out when they were like, SO in love with him.
Their favorite type of music is, of course, "emo, screamo, and hardcore", three terms which, in their minds, invariably include the bands Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, and Hawthorne Heights.Their AIM screennames often include x's, the words "electrikk", "disaster", or some play on their favorite song from their favorite band, you know, the one they saw on MTV like a couple times, but shouldn't be on MTV because they're like, way too emo for that.
They take hundreds of black and white pictures with way too much contrast of themselves looking plaintively down at the ground, pointing a gun made of their fingers at their heads, or kissing the camera while displaying their expert application of lip gloss around their labret piercing and the thick dark eyeliner that circles their eyes.
They embrace the "dork" that is inside their polished, fashionable exteriors by writing in their LiveJournals or Xangas about how they and their friends had an 'N Sync sing-a-long at one of their sleepovers because, remember, 'N Sync is soooo not popular anymore and they like, sooo wouldn't follow any of the fads of today, so they embrace the fads of yesterday.
They adore "retro fashion", meaning anything from the 80's, because they totally used to wear neon colors and big beaded bracelets, even though they were born in, at the earliest, 1988 and remember jack shit about the fashion and culture of the 80's.
It's full of "emo boys" who often are difficult to differentiate from "emo girls", who have meaningless tattoos even though they're 15, smoke a lot of cigarettes, drink a lot of hard liquor, and are in some shitty band that plays a couple of gigs in someone's basement because they're "too cool to go mainstream" when really, they just suck.
They weigh roughly 90 pounds, wear girls' jeans that hug their asses in just the right places, belts buckled somewhere around the side of their right leg, tight striped 80's style polo shirts or band t-shirts, and skater shoes, even though they don't skate because that's soooo lame.
They write awful poetry about the dark abyss of their souls and how the gun is pointed at their heads, the trigger poised to blast away the bloody memories of a failed romance. They cried when Blink-182 broke up, and they have a secret obsession with Avril Lavigne because, like, she really IS kinda hot even though her music totally sucks.
They spend more time at the mirror than their female counterparts do, making sure that the long black shock of hair at the front of their heads lies covering one eye just so, that their lip piercing is perfectly placed so that it looks hot when they kiss other boys, that their pants are the right degree of tightness so as not to exude gayness.
Emo boys and girls often use the suffix "Xcore" to describe themselves, using a number of adjectives or nouns to accomplish this task. This is a play off hardcore music, or "hXc". Some of these descriptive words include "fashionXcore", "retroXcore", or even "yournamehereXcore."This way of speaking is retarded or nonsensical to everyone else except those "in the scene", but it totally doesn't matter because they're too nonconformistXcore for anyone to truly understand their "scene".
They couldn't name a Janis Joplin, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Led Zeppelin, Who, Kinks, Tom Petty, Ramones, ZZ Top or Beastie Boys song if it came up and bit them on their Gap Jeans-clad asses, and they claim to like the Smiths because Jesse Lacey of Brand New said they were cool.
Sure, they listen to some new "emoXcore" bands, but they're all pretty much the same five bands: 1. Taking Back Sunday 2. Senses Fail 3. My Chemical Romance 4. Hawthorne Heights 5. Story of the Year
To these promising young firecrackers, music takes a backseat to fashion in their scene of choice. Emo girls just want to kiss emo boys, emo boys just want to kiss other emo boys, and they all want to wear tight pants and take lots of pictures of themselves. End of story. Because honestly? It's electrikk!" |

Contemplation? |
So the Hubby and I are thinking about moving up in the world. We want to rent a house. We've been thinking about it for awhile. We've decided that we are going to take on a roomate and look for a small two bedroom. Our roomate is going to be Tiny, who was the best man at our wedding. We've both known him for awhile and we think we get along fabulous. Now the tricky part is going to be affording it. I have been running the numbers but I need some help to tell me if it is feasible.
First, Tiny can afford only $700 max, so wherever we are that's it. Currently we pay $900 in rent for our one bedroom apt. We have found a cute little house close to all of our jobs and big enough to fit us all comfortably. It has a nice big backyard and a full basement. It also has LOTS of closets and built in shelves which I am drooling over. I have only ONE closet in my current apt. that can fit anything.
Now here is what I have figured. (per month)
$1800 - My take home pay $2000 - Hubby's take home pay (approx. $1000 is pay and the rest is commision, which so far has been pretty stable.)
That gives us $3800 to work with. Currently our expenses are $250 for car payment, $300 for insurance, $150 for digital cable, internet, and phone. That leaves us with $3200. Take away $1000 for food and gas. That gives us $2200 to play with. The house we're looking at is like $1700 plus utilities. Tiny thinks utilities will bring it to about $2300. If Tiny pays $700 that will leave $1600. Out of our $2200 that leaves us an extra $400 wiggle room. I believe that only electric and oil is our responsibility. Water is covered by the landlord.
I feel like I am missing something here. Hubby doesn't think it is feasible but let me know what you guys think.

I am feeling much better today. The aches have gone away.
I am so happy too. My darling little wretch of a brother has relented and I am going to be there for his surgery. It took many a day of silence but I do know he loves me and I love him. Thanks you guys for all your advice. It definitely helped.
and now:
Hopefully some of that cute baby/cute pet crap will help me win a BOTB on BlogExplosion.

**Bitch Slap Part Deux** |
I have a new friend over at PoetX. He's been going through some issues and I went through the same things, so I'm trying to help him out. I gave him a mission yesterday. To name seven things he likes to do outside of the house and within five days do at least one of those things. Then he has to report how it went on his blog. I told him I would do the same so here goes.
1)Go to the beach. It's still nice out, and the beach is only about five minutes from my house.
2) Go to a park and swing on the swings.
3) GO SHOPPING! (soon 6 days till payday)
4) Go to see a movie. I want to see Broken Flowers with Bill Murray.
5) Go canoeing.
6) Paint.
7) Take a walk with my hubby.
I let you know next week how it goes.
(Jen, I promise I will meme tomorrow.) :) |

I should have known... |
"The single greatest power in the world today is the power to change." That was my Morning Inspiration quote of the day. I really fucking needed it. I should have known what was bothering me. It was the one thing that I was thinking about all yeaterday but I don't know what to do about it. I had a fight with my brother over the weekend. Not exactly a fight. He got into an argument with my mom *they still live together* and called me and told me to tell her, "What the fuck is her problem!" I refused because 1. I didn't know what happened or what was said. and 2. I am not going to do what he says all the time.
Ok a bit of background:
I am 25, my brother is 17, my mom is 48. I have always been more like a mom to my brother because my mom is a single mom and worked alot when we were younger. I have tried to shield him from alot. I realize now that was not the right thing to do because he has trouble dealing with situations on his own. One of those things being my mom. My mom and I went through a long time where we were at odds, and we have come to a tentative truce. My brother is right at the beginning of that. I have tried to talk to him and give him pointers on how to deal with things but he wants me to do it for him. I have tried but it just puts me into the middle of the situation and I get pushed and pulled and I feel horrible. I have decided that is not going to happen anymore. I am not a punching bag.
So when my brother called last weekend, and said that, I tried to find out what exactly was said to try and give him some advice on how to handle the situation. He was having none of that. There was yelling and much hanging up on each other. I want to help him but he wants me to do it for him. So I really haven't talked to him since then. I tried to contact him by IM but he didn't want to talk to me.
Then last night I had a nightmare. I dreamt that I was in an amusement park with my mom and brother. Then a tornado came and I was trying to make sure my brother stayed with me so he would be safe. He kept getting lost and I was so upset trying to find him. I don't know what I would do if I lost my brother. :(
I love him so much. That will never change. I just hope he loves me. |

I can't even speak... But we all need to help |
A food bank in Louisiana (Foodbank) is coordinating all donations of food, clothing, and personal grooming items(toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, etc.) for the entire region. They specify the best type of food to send is something that is ready to eat, like canned chili. No microwave, no stovetop. And, of course, canned or boxed is better, and they won't accept anything home-made.
Ship stuff here: Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana 2307 Texas Avenue Shreveport, LA 71103
You can phone them at 318-678-2400
You can also join Katrina Aid to find out more ways to help.

So apparently I wasn't paying too much attention senior year, beacuse I don't know half the songs on this list. # 74 is very important to me though, because that is the song my husband sang to me the day he asked me out. We were at college and sitting in the middle of the square where everybody hung out and he just showed up with his guitar and a bouquet of roses and sang me that song in front of everybody. We have been together ever since.
AWWWWWWW! Here is my Hubby:
